This is an ink painting technique employed to draw lines with a sense of penetrating force. The beginning of the brushstroke looks like the head of a nail, and the brushstroke diminishes in width gradually into a long thin line, shaped like the tail of a rat. Usually, the stroke is drawn quickly in a single long movement.
