即资产阶级物质生活和精神生活方式。马克思主义认为，一定的生活方式是与一定的生产方式相联系的。资产阶级的生活方式是资本主义生产方式的产物。在资本主义社会里，资产阶级占有生产资料，自由竞争、追求利润是资本主义生产发展的动力; 资产阶级在生产中统治和奴役无产阶级，无偿地占有无产阶级所创造的剩余价值。这种生产方式决定资产阶级的生活方式必然是以利己主义为原则来安排各种活动的（李水海，1990：988）资产阶级生活方式的寄生性和腐朽性是历史上一切剥削阶级的生活方式所共有的，但由于资本主义社会生产力的高度发展和科学技术的飞跃进步，在客观上充实了资产阶级的物质和文化生活，使资产阶级的物质生活、文化娱乐生活比较发达，这是资产阶级生活方式比以往社会生活方式进步和发展的表现，这对促进人类文明进步有所贡献。但是，资产阶级生活方式是发达的物质文化生活与寄生、腐朽、堕落的精神生活的混合体。批判、扬弃资产阶级生活方式的寄生性、腐朽性和没落的东西，肯定并适当吸收其合理的、先进的东西，这是我们对待资产阶级生活方式所应采取的态度。（迟福林等，1992：1253-1254）。
