定义

第二实体是古希腊哲学家亚里士多德“实体学说”中的概念，指属、种。亚里士多德在其《范畴篇》中，把实体分为第一实体与第二实体。第一实体指个别事物，第二实体指包含个别事物的属和种，如“人”、“动物”等（金炳华，冯契，2001：1338）。亚里士多德认为，“实体”首先一个涵义就是形成世界万物的最基本的原始东西。他把个别具体事物称为第一实体。第一实体是其他一切东西的基础，如果没有第一实体存在就不可能有其他东西存在。而第二实体是指第一实体的属和种，就是指一般或普遍的东西。第一实体和第二实体之间类似于个别和一般的关系，它们相互依赖，又相辅相成。第二实体依赖于第一实体而存在，例如没有个别的人存在，也就没有“人”这个“属”和“动物”这个“种”。同时，只有第二实体的属和种，才能更得当地说明第一实体是什么。例如，在说明一个个别事物是什么的时候，我们说某某是“人”或说某某是“动物”（李云，2009：174）。
