Chan Zong (Zen School of Buddhism)

禅宗又名佛心宗。禅宗不是汉传佛教，又不离汉传佛教，是中国特色的本土佛教——汉族佛教。

The word Zen comes from the Sanskrit Dhyana, meaning mediation, which is transcribed as Chan in Chinese and Zen in Japanese. It was also called “the Buddhist Mind School”. Though it was not originally Chinese Buddhism per se, it had a close relationship with it.
