定义

社会关系是指人们在共同的社会实践活动中而结成的相互关系的总称（孙国华，1997：362）。广义社会关系是指人们在共同活动过程中所结成的以生产关系为基础的相互关系。它包括物质关系和思想关系。物质的社会关系，是人们相互之间发生的各种各样的物质交往关系，其中，主要是人们在物质生产过程中结成的与一定生产力发展水平相适应的经济关系，即生产关系，这是形成其他社会关系的基础。列宁在谈到马克思、恩格斯的伟大贡献时说过，他们把唯物主义贯彻到社会历史领域，“从社会生活的各种领域中划分出经济领域来，从一切社会关系中划分出生产关系来，并把它当做决定其余一切关系的基本的原始的关系”（列宁，1995：6）。这就是说，在各种社会关系中，生产关系是第一性的，最基本的。其余一切关系，归根到底都是由生产关系决定的。思想的社会关系，是在物质的社会关系基础上形成的政治、法律、道德、艺术、宗教等意识形态方面的关系，其性质决定于社会生产关系。物质关系决定思想关系的性质，而思想关系又反作用于物质关系。狭义的社会关系是指社会团体中人与人之间的互动关系，或一个社会团体与其它社会团体之间的相互影响（时蓉华，1988：202）。社会关系的内容和性质不是凝固不变的。社会关系是具体的，它具有历史性，不同历史时期或阶段有不同的社会关系。在阶级社会中，各种社会关系无不打上阶级的烙印，都带有一定的阶级性（孙国华，1997：362）。社会关系是变化的，引起社会关系变化的原因是多方面的，但最根本的动因是社会生产力（廖盖隆，梁初鸿，陈有进等，1993：141）。
