即阿弥陀佛的十六种观法，出自观无量寿经，又作十六想观、十六妙观、十六正观、十六观门。

As described in the Amitayurdhyana Sutra, the term refers to sixteen meditations of Amitabha, on the setting sun, forms of water, the earth, and other conditioned phenomena. The practice of them leads to various grades of transformational rebirth in the Pure Land.
