佛教经典，谓释迦牟尼教化长者子尸迦罗越，告诉他每日向六方礼拜的意义。经内以东、南、西、北、下、上，分别配比父母子女、师傅弟子、夫妻、朋友、主仆、俗人与出家人的关系，提出处理这些关系的若干准则。

A Buddhist Scripture. It records that which the Buddha preached to Sigāla, when he offered the outline of a code of conduct for the laity (known as 'vinaya'). Following the wishes of his deceased father, it was Sigāla’s practice to worship the six cardinal directions of east, south, west, north, nadir and zenith (nadir and zenith are up and down in the third dimension). The Buddha explains to him that the directions Sigāla worshipped are actually meant to symbolize the relationships between parents, teachers, mothers and children, friends and acquaintances, and servants and workers.
