“Story of Jetavana”

唐代话本。故事讲述了舍卫国大臣须达闻佛法后开悟，以黄金铺地买得祗陀太子园林，释迦谴弟子舍利佛同往相助。外道闻讯大恚，求与舍利佛斗法，后被舍利佛降服。

A huaben story from the Tang Dynasty. According to the story, Sudatta, a senior official in Shravasti, was enlightened by the Buddha’s teachings. He purchased Jetavana for the Buddha from Prince Jeta on the condition that he, Sudatta, would have its ground all covered with gold. When Sudatta was laying pieces of gold to cover the ground, the Buddha sent his disciple Sariputra to help. Meanwhile, some believers of other religions became jealous and they challenged Sariputra to a competition of magical powers. In the end, they lost the bet and admitted defeat to Sariputra.
