Ksitigarbha(Earth Store Bodhisattva)

定义

菩萨名号，音译“乞叉底蘖婆”。相传他受释迦摩尼佛的嘱托，在释迦寂灭，弥勒尚未降生成佛之前，自誓必尽度六道众生，拯救诸苦，始愿成佛，为佛教中掌管地狱及六道轮回的大菩萨。因此，又被称为“地藏王菩萨”。

The word refers to the Bodhisattva who was requested by Shakyamuni to help and to save all sentient beings after the final Nirvana of Shakyamuni and before the birth of Maitreya Buddha. Ksitigarbha is in charge of the reincarnation or rebirth of lives in hell and the Six Realms of Existence. Thus he is also called King Ksitigarbha.
