1.说书人说长篇故事,在说到重要关节处停止,借以吸引听众接着往下听,叫卖关子。{(of a storyteller) stop just when a story reaches a climax to keep the audience in suspense}
2.〈比喻fig.〉说话、做事在紧要的时候,故弄玄虚,使对方着急而答应自己的要求{deliberately keep people guessing to get one's own way}:
