入彀rùgòu〈书fml.〉
1.唐太宗在端门看见新进士鱼贯而出,高兴地说,‘天下英雄入吾彀中矣。’(见于《唐摭言·述进士》)‘彀’是使劲张弓,‘彀中’指箭能射及的范围。后来用‘入彀’比喻受人牢笼,由他操纵。{(fig.) under one's thumb. According to Collected Phrases of Tang·Accounts of Metropolitan Graduates, on seeing successful candidates in the highest imperial examinations coming out of the Gate of Correct Demeanour one after another, Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty said in delight, ‘All the heroes under heaven are now under my thumb.’ ‘彀 gòu’ means drawing a bow to the full, and ‘彀中 gòuzhōng’ means the range of an arrow shot.}
