留守liúshǒu
1.皇帝离开京城,命大臣驻守,叫做留守。平时在陪都也有大臣留守。{emperor's order to a minister to act on his behalf during his absence from the capital. A secondary capital also had a rear minister for this purpose.}
2.部队、机关、团体等离开原驻地时留下少数人在原驻地担任守卫、联系等工作{(of a small number of people) remain for garrison or liaison duty after the troops, organs, organizations, etc. have left the originally stationed place}:
