牛郎织女niúláng zhīnǚ

2.古代神话中人物。织女是天帝的孙女,与牛郎结合后,不再给天帝织云锦,天帝用天河将他们隔开,只准每年农历七月七日相会一次。相会时喜鹊在银河上给他们搭桥,称为鹊桥。现在用‘牛郎织女’比喻长期分居两地的夫妻。{Herd Boy and Weaving Girl, two characters in ancient Chinese mythology. The Weaving Girl stops weaving clouds for her grandfather, the God of Heaven, after marrying the cowherd, so the God of Heaven separates them with the River of Heaven (the Milky way), permitting them to meet only once a year, on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month, when magpies build a bridge for them over the river — the Magpie Bridge. Today the term is used to refer to husband and wife living apart for a long time.} |
