围魏救赵wéi Wèi jiù Zhào公元前353年,魏国围攻赵国都城邯郸。齐国派田忌率军救赵。田忌用军师孙膑的计策,乘魏国内部空虚而引兵攻魏,魏军回救本国,齐军乘其疲惫,在桂陵(今山东菏泽)大败魏军,赵国因而解围。后来用‘围魏救赵’来指类似的作战方法。{In 353 B.C., the state of Wei laid siege to Handan, capital of the state of Zhao, and the s tate of Qi dispatched General Tian Ji and his troops to the rescue. Adopting the strategy devised by his military counsellor Sun Bin, Tian Ji launched an offensive at Wei by taking advantage of its depleted defence. When the Wei troops hurried back to save their home, they were defeated by the Qi army at Guiling (present-day Heze, Shandong Province). Zhao was thus relieved. The phrase ‘besieging Wei to rescue Zhao’ has since come to refer to similar strategies.} |
