后来hòulái
1.指在过去某一时间之后的时间{later; afterwards; the comparative of ‘late’}:
他还是去年二月里来过一封信,～再没有来过信。{I haven't heard from him since last February when he wrote me.}[注意]NOTE:
‘后来’跟‘以后’的分别。{Pay attention to the difference between 后来 hòulái and 以后 yǐhòu}a)‘以后’可以单用,也可以作为后置成分,‘后来’只能单用,例如只能说‘七月以后’,不能说‘七月后来’。{以后yǐhòu can be used on its own or after a phrase; while 后来 hòulái can only be used on its own, as yon can say ‘七月以后’ but not ‘七月后来’}b)‘以后’可以指过去,也可以指将来,‘后来’只指过去,例如只能说‘以后你要注意’,不能说‘后来你要注意’。{以后yǐhòu implies either the past or the future while 后来hòulái only implies the past}
