1.父亲的上一辈 grandfather：～父 zǔfù (paternal) grandfather ext. 先代 ancestor：～宗 zǔzong forefathers; forbears/ 始～ shǐzǔ first (earliest) ancestor ［祖国 -guó］对自己国家的亲切称呼 (an address of love and respect for one's country) motherland; homeland; native land
2.对跟祖父同辈的人的称呼 an address for people of the same generation with one's grandfather：外～父 wàizǔfù maternal grandfather/ 外～母 wàizǔmǔ maternal grandmother/ 伯～ bózǔ (paternal) grandfather's elder brother; grand uncle
