1.到，来 arrive; be present：喜事～门 xǐshì lín mén good news (or a happy event) coming to the house/ 身～其境 shēnlín-qíjìng be personally on the scene; be present on the spot ext. 遭遇，碰到 meet; confront：～渴掘井 línkě-juéjǐng dig a well when feeling thirsty; start acting too late ［临时 -shí］1.到时候，当时 at the time when sth. is needed or is expected to happen：事先有准备，～～就不会忙乱 Shìxiān yǒu zhǔnbèi, línshí jiù bùhuì mángluàn. If you arrange everything in advance, you will not be in a rush at the last moment. 2.暂时，非经常的 temporarily; for the time being：你先～～代理一下 Nǐ xiān línshí dàilǐ yīxià. You can act for him for the time being./～～会议 línshí huìyì a temporary meeting
2.挨着，靠近 near; close to 1.指地点，多指较高的靠近较低的 (of place) overlook (the street, etc.)：～河 lín hé look out on a river/ ～街 línjiē overlook the street 2.指时间。将要，快要 (of time) on the point of; just before：～走 línzǒu just before leaving/ ～别 línbié at parting; just before parting ［临盆 -pén］孕妇快要生小孩儿 be giving birth to a child; bein labour ［临床 -chuáng］医学上称医生给人诊治疾病 clinical; clinical examination
3.封建时代帝王上朝 in feudal times emperors attended to the court meetings in early morning to hear his courtiers' briefings or to see their memorials：～朝 líncháo sit in the throne and govern the state affairs/ ～政 línzhèng administer the court; tend to state affairs
4.照着字、画摹仿 copy (a model of calligraphy or painting)：～帖 líntiè practise calligraphy after a model/ ～画 línhuà copy (a model of painting) |
