1.脑袋，人身体的最上部分或动物身体的最前的部分 head, the top part of a human body or the front part of an animal body ( comb. -颅 -lú head) trans. 头发 hair：他不想留～了 Tā bù xiǎng liú tóu le. He wants to have his hair cut. ［头脑 -nǎo］1.脑筋，思想 brain; thought：他～～清楚 Tā tóunǎo qīngchu. He is clear-headed./ 不要被胜利冲昏～～ Bùyào bèi shènglì chōnghūn tóunǎo. Don't be overwhelmed with victory. 2.要领，门路 main threads; clue：这事我摸不着～～ Zhè shì wǒ mōbuzháo tóunǎo. I cannot make head or tail of it.
2.(-儿 -r)事情的起点或终点 beginning or end of sth.; top：山～ shāntóur mountain top/ 从～儿说起 cóngtóur shuōqi tell from the very beginning/ 什么时候才是个～儿呀！ Shénme shíhou cái shì ge tóur yɑ! Whenever will it be over?
3.物体的顶端 top; tip：山～ shāntóu mountain top/ 笔～ bǐtóur writing skill trans. (-儿 -r)物品的残余部分 end; remnant：烟卷～儿 yānjuǎntóur cigarette butt/ 蜡～儿 làtóur candle end/ 布～儿 bùtóur bits of cloth; leftover of a bolt of cloth ［头绪 -xù］条理，处理事物的门径 main threads (of a complicated affair)：我找不出～～来 Wó zhǎo bu chū tóuxù lɑi. I cannot get the things into shape.
4.以前，在前面的 before; previous：～两年 tóu liǎng nián the first two years/ 我在～里走 Wǒ zài tóuli zǒu. I'd like to walk in the front.
5.次序在前，第一 first：～等 tóuděng first-class/ ～号 tóuhào number one; size one/ ～班 tóubān the first shift
6.接近，临 near; approaching：～睡觉最好洗洗脚 Tóu shuìjiào zuìhǎo xǐxi jiǎo. You'd better wash your feet before going to bed.
