1.臀部放在椅子等物体上以支持身体 sit：席地而～ xídì'érzuò sit on the ground/ ～在凳子上 zuò zài dèngzi shɑng sit on a stool ext. 1.乘，搭 travel by or on：～车 zuòchē ride on a bus/ ～船 zuòchuán go by ship 2.坐落 be situated; (of a building) have its back towards：房屋～北朝南 Fángwū zuòběi-cháonán. The house faces south.
2.物体向后施压力 sink; subside：房子往后～了 Fángzi wǎng hòu zuò le. This house is beginning to slope backwards./ 这枪～力很小 Zhè qiāng zuòlì hěn xiǎo. The gun has little recoil.
3.把锅、壶等放在炉火上 put a pan, pot, kettle, etc. on a fire：～锅 zuòguō put a pot on the stove/ ～水 zuòshuǐ heat the water

7.自然而然 naturally; spontaneously, automatically：孤蓬自振，惊沙～飞 Gūpéng zìzhèn, jīngshā zuò fēi. The lonely fleabane swayed itself, and the stirred sand flew at its own will. (fig. One wanders alone everywhere without destination.)
