1.原因，缘故，事物发生前已具备的条件 cause; reason, prerequisite conditions for the happening of sth.：事出有～ shìchū-yǒuyīn There is a good reason (cause) for it./ 内～ nèiyīn intrinsic cause/ 外～ wàiyīn external cause
2.因为，由于 because； because of：会议～故改期 Huìyì yīngù gǎiqī. The meeting has been put off for some reason./ 生活～而改善 shēnghuó yīn'ér gǎishàn Life thus has been improved. ［因为 -wèi］连词，表示理由或缘故 conj. because of; as a result of：～～今天下雨，我没有出门 Yīnwèi jīntiān xiàyǔ, wǒ méiyǒu chūmén. Because it rained today, I stayed indoors.
3.依，顺着，沿袭 follow; carry on ( comb. -袭 -xí follow)：～势利导 yīnshì-lìdǎo guide in the light of general trend/ ～袭成规 yīnxí-chéngguī follow established practice/ ～陋就简 yīnlòu-jiùjiǎn make do with available conditions［因循 -xún］1.守旧，不改变 follow old customs; remain 2.拖沓(tà)，不振作，得过且过 procrastinate; be inactive; let things drift (muddle along) |
