1.走路，步行 walk; go：～得快 zǒu de kuài walk quickly/ 小孩子会～路了 Xiǎoháizi huì zǒu lù le. The baby is able to walk. ext. 1.往来 visit; call on：～亲戚 zǒu qīnqi call on relatives 2.移动，挪动 move; run：～棋 zǒuqí (of chess) move (a step)/ 钟不～了 Zhōng bù zǒu le. The clock has stopped. 3.往来运送 send (to and fro); deliver：～信 zǒuxìn deliver letters/ ～货 zǒuhuò deliver goods
2.离去 leave; go away：他刚～ Tā gāng zǒu. He's just left./ 我明天要～了 Wǒ míngtiān yào zǒu le. I'll leave tomorrow.
3.通过，由 through; from：咱们～这个门出去吧 Zánmen zǒu zhège mén chūqu bɑ. Let's go out through this door.
4.经过 be noted in the account：这笔钱不～账了 Zhè bǐ qián bù zǒuzhàng le. This sum of money need not be shown in the account.
5.透漏出，越过范围 leak; let out; escape：～漏消息 zǒulòu xiāoxi leak information/ ～气 zǒuqì The gas is leaking./ 说话～了嘴 shuōhuà zǒu le zuǐ make a slip of the tongue
6.失去原样 lose the original shape, flavour, etc.：衣服～样子了 Yīfu zǒu yàngzi le. The suit is out of shape./ 茶叶～味了 Cháyè zǒuwèir le. The tea has lost its flavour.
7.古代指跑 same as pǎo in ancient Chinese texts ( comb. 奔- bēn- run)：～马看花 zǒumǎ-kànhuā ride on horseback to look at flowers; give only a passing glance at things ［走狗 -gǒu］善跑的猎狗 hunting dog fig. 受人豢养而帮助作恶的人 running dog; servile follower; flunkey |
