1.责任，分(fèn)内应做的事 duty; responsibility：我们要对人民负～ Wǒmen yào duì rénmín fùzé. We should hold ourselves responsible to the people./ 尽～ jìnzé do one's duty/ 爱护公物，人人有～ ?ihù gōngwù, rénrén yǒu zé. It is everybody's duty to take good care of public property.
2.要求 demand; require：求全～备 qiúquán-zébèi demand perfection/ ～己严于～人 zé jǐ yán yú zé rén demand oneself more strictly than do the others ［责成-chéng］要求某人负责办好 charge sb with a task：这个问题已～～专人研究解决 Zhège wèntí yǐ zéchéng zhuānrén yánjiū jiějué. Someone has already been specially assigned for the research and solution of this problem.
3.指摘过失，责备 reproach; blame; reprove：～罚 zéfá punish/ 斥～ chìzé rebuke; denounce
4.责问，质问，诘(jié)问 call sb to account; question
5.旧指为惩罚而打 beat as a punishment in former times：鞭～ biānzé flog; lash/ 杖～ zhàngzé beat with a stick, cane, etc.〈古 arch.〉又同“债(zhài)” Same as “债(debt)” |
