1.用，拿，把，将 with; by means of：～少胜多 yǐshǎo-shèngduō defeat the many with the few/ 晓之～利害 xiǎo zhī yǐ lìhài warn sb of the possible consequences; make sb. aware of the pros and cons involved/ ～身作则 yǐshēn-zuòzé set an example with one's own conduct/ ～理论为行动的指南 yǐ lǐlùn wéi xíngdòng de zhǐnán guide one's action with the theory/ ～劳动为光荣 yǐ láodòng wéi guāngróng take labour as sth. glorious ［以为 -wéi］心里想，认为 think; consider; believe：意～～未足 yì yǐwéi wèi zú It's not enough in my opinion./ 我～～应该这样做 Wǒ yǐwéi yīnggāi zhèyàng zuò. 5.目的在于 in order to; so as to：遵守安全制度，～免发生危险 Zūnshǒu ānquán zhìdù, yǐmiǎn fāshēng wēixiǎn. obey the safety rules to avoid dangers
6.文言连词，跟“而”用法相同 and; as well as, conjunction in ancient Chinese texts, used in the same way as ér：其责己也重～周，其待人也轻～约 Qí zé jǐ yě zhòng yǐ zhōu, qí dài rén yě qīng yǐ yuē. He set strict demands on himself, and was lenient and broadminded towards others.
